Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri ... Maaf Zahir & Batin.
Once again we in Malaysia are celebrating the birth of Syawal of 1433 Hijrah (2012). I'm sure this new beginning in Syawal holds different meaning for every individuals.
We in Malaysia are able to cherish that moment of Syawal, each in our own way.
Its during such celebrations that we cherish our peace, stability and harmony more, especially while witnessing images of our not so lucky fellow human beings (on television) from places where peace and harmony has different meanings.
Its easy for us to make fun of older generation Malaysians and politicians who often remind and repeat the need for us to maintain peace and stability. Our youngsters may think that politicians are crying wolf while the 'old folks' just repeat themselves but I'm sure the ugly images from UNSTABLE n NOT PEACEFUL regions and nations don't continue to fool us.
It is not easy to remain as a truly independent, peaceful, stable, progressive and harmonious multiracial society in the current global scenario when even the people of the same creed, color and religion kill each other for a hundred different reasons.
Just because we haven't lost it for more than 50 years, it doesn't mean that we will never lose it.
Selamat Hari Raya Malaysia, may our journey be free from the ugly images of conflicts and bloodbath.
